Hi !
This page will tell you in detail information regarding my final year project.
As my project progresses towards completion I will constantly update this page with
all the developments that take place during this period.
Background -
As I have mentioned earlier, I am in my final year of Engineering, at
Saboo Siddik College of Engg., branch - pure Electronics.
The final year syllabus also consists of a Project, which the students have to plan and
complete by the end of the year. The students have to form groups of 3 or 4, and these
groups should take up projects either in some research institute [IIT, BARC, TIFR..], or
in some company [ IBM, MTNL, VSNL ... ], or in-house project, i.e. in college itself.
The Group -
Well my group consists of two of my classmates and me.
* Jaidev Rao
* Jameel Khan
* Shebaz Qureshi
The Place -
We have got a project in CMC [govt. company at Bandra(E) ], which will be
implemented in ONGC [Bandra E].
CMC has been given a task to network the whole ONGC building using LAN and also
network 24 other ONGC buildings at various other locations in and close to Bombay, some
of the locations are off-shore oil drilling platforms.
Our Job -
The project which we have been assigned is to create a network software.
The software, should be such that any network USER [who has a complaint to log] should be
able to log on to the network where our software is present, enter his/her
complaint [hardware/software] and the particular software engineer should get the complaint
at his/her terminal.
In short it is a HELPDESK on the network.
This software which we have to design should have quite a few other features too.
Report making should be made one click away - i.e. At the end of the month if the support
staff wants to make a report of all the complaints, along with statistics and graphs, the
software should do this from just a click.
Also solutions to a problem [hardware/software] should be added to the
database, once the engineer solves it. This will help future users to just check previous
solutions to their problem, so that engineer is not called everytime for something which
can be solved by just looking at the previous solution !
Well, for more detaled and non-amateur explanations on the subject, kindly refer to the
FMS - the details link.
